The worst was the Baron & the Fenrings at the colosseum. Not really sure what the logic behind that was. It will change from reader, to actor, to reader, within paragraphs of each other. Like Baron Harkonnen half the time has a Darth Vader type voice and no accent the rest of the time. The one main gripe I think people have thats justified is that character voices change and are not consistent throughout. This again is something I really only had to deal with for the beginning until I got everything straight in my head. the Three Body Problem, I found I needed to look at the text to keep the Chinese names clear in my head as a non-speaker of the language. I have also had this issue with books with foreign names, i.e. I think it's worth it but it is probably worthwhile to have the text to look at as well. One reason to listen: If you were disappointed with the Dune movie then this full cast audiobook is the one you have been waiting for. Dune is a milestone in science fiction storytelling that every fan should listen to. When I got off the road trip I had to go back and look at cliff notes to confirm what I had listened to. The audio quality was consistent throughout, and the narrators-even when accidentally swapping characters-made the experience highly enjoyable. With the various people contributing to the narration (not quite a full cast), the narrators would sometimes read lines that belonged to characters being voiced by a different narrator, which made things occasionally confusing. , Dune is widely considered to be one of the greatest science fiction novels of all time. The only problems I had with Dune were those occasional mix-up in voices. The main narrator (Scott Brick) has an easy voice that draws you into the story of Dune. The quality of the recording was wonderful, and the sound effects were used well. Despite the vast differences between the cultures in the book and cultures now, Herbert made the characters accessible and interesting. The book has a richness and depth that was hard to find back then, and it still stands out as one of the best science fiction novels of all time. Dune Audiobook LengthDune is a work of science fiction and fantasy which is the first book in the Dune novel series. I had forgotten how different it was from the film and the television series. Reading (or rather, listening) to Dune again after so long was great fun. Control of the planet was taken from the Baron Harkonnen, and they are not happy about it. Arrakis is the source of melange (or “spice”), a substance that allows the far-flung humanity to travel the stars. Set 10,000 years or so in the future, the young Paul Atreides goes with his family to the planet of Arrakis as his father assumes control over the planet at the command of the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. This one has remained my favorite, however. That voice actor has an amazing voice, but he made the Barron seem like a cartoon villain or like that overdone envoy on that Movie 300 who does the slow evil laugh to himself in the. I liked it better when teh narrator did the voice instead of that voice actor. But beneath the joy of victory there are dangerous undercurrents. His warrior legions march from victory to victory. Anderson are answering these questions in Paul of Dune. I really enjoyed it, and spent a lot of time in that world reading the other books in the series.
